Our Vision As part of ADAPT's ongoing commitment to the global concrete design community and the advancement of the application of pre-stressing technologies, Dr. Bijan Aalami has made educational and practical seminars one of the principal activities of ADAPT over the last twenty-five years. Design engineers in Panama, Singapore, Latvia and Brazil relied on ADAPT software and consulting to successfully establish the practice of unbonded post-tensioning in their countries. Dr. Aalami's qualifications as a Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at San Francisco State University, a registered Structural Engineer in California, and a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom, together with ADAPT's extensive design experience worldwide, provides the knowledge base upon which ADAPT seminars are developed. Post-tensioning Design and Construction - A two-day educational and practical seminar With an optional hands-on training workshop This course is offered in collaboration with Imperial College London's Centre for Professional
Development. The course covers developments in post-tensioning design technology, construction
practice, economic advantages of post-tensioning and design software tools. The primary lecturer of the course is Dr. Bijan O Aalami,
the renowned world leader and teacher in the design of concrete buildings, bridges, and special
structures. Additional lecturers include Mr. Robin Whittle, Dr. Florian Aalami and Dr. Neil Tsang.
Mr. Whittle is Chairman of the Concrete Society Working Party, which has been
responsible for updating the technical design handbook TR 43, "Post-Tensioned Concrete Floors". Dr. Florian Aalami, is a specialist
in construction technology and software application. Dr. Tsang is on the staff of Imperial College London and is an expert on time and temperature

Serie de Seminarios en Latino America Descripcion del Curso: Este curso le provee al Ingeniero las herramientas y el know-how para un diseno eficiente y economico de edificios postensados. Ofrece los ultimos desarrollos en tecnologia constructiva, revision de nuevas provisiones en el Codigo ACI-318-08, procedimientos de diseno y software. Despues de una breve introduccion de los sistemas actuales de postensados en la practica constructiva, el curso continua con los aspectos economicos de los tendones adheridos y no adheridos y cubre conceptos practicos de diseno y procedimientos de diseno para vigas, losas en una direccion, losas planas en dos direcciones apoyadas sobre columnas. Cada paso se documenta con literatura, ejemplos y simulaciones de computador. El curso continua con la demostracion de tecnologia de punta en modelacion grafica de estructuras para el analisis y diseno de sistemas de piso, incluyendo el uso eficiente de dibujos de AutoCAD, la integracion con la ultima tecnologia de modelacion de informacion de Edificios (BIM) de Revit Structure y la generacion de modelos usando las herramientas del software de ADAPT. Se presenta un proceso integrado para la generacion de calculos estructurales, planos para construccion de refuerzo y postensados, y estimacion de cantidades de construccion. ADAPT se complace en anunciar su primer diplomado en Latinoamérica para el 2012. El diplomado es un curso intensivo de 32 horas dictadas durante 4 días y que tiene énfasis en los componentes principales teorico-practicos para que el ingeniero desarrolle la capacidad necesaria para analizar y diseñar estructuras postensadas. El diplomado tiene una alta intensidad en el uso practico de software a través de ejemplos de diseño.Objetivos: Al terminar el diplomado, el ingeniero estará en capacidad de: Los módulos del diplomado son:
Modulo 2. Predimensionamiento, fricción, agrietamiento. Modulo 3. Elaboración de modelos de elementos finitos y su interpretación. Modulo 4. Análisis y Diseño de un sistema completo de losa postensada. El diplomado se desarrolla usando las herramientas informáticas de ADAPT, las cuales se proporcionaran a los participantes con antelación al inicio del curso. Para participar es necesario que cada asistente traiga al curso su propio laptop con sistema operativo Windows para los talleres de diseño. Se suministrara notas técnicas en CD, al final se entregaran los diplomas de asistencia. Se proveerá dos coffee breaks por día, no se proveerá almuerzo en ninguno de los días del curso.
